The plain lip opening is held in place by a fitter with thumb screws. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eTo insure you order the correct size please measure your existing globe cover by sticking a tape measure down from the opening of the hole to the bottom of the globe. This will give you a correct (diameter) length. Next measure across the top of the opening to determine your opening width. Finally check to see if you have a neckless, plain lip or threaded lip opening. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThese globes are generally used as light covers though many of our customers report using them as stage props, or for gumball machines, world globes and various other art and school projects. This globe wall is about one quarter inch thick and can be cut with a sharp saw though care must be taken once cut because the edges can be sharp. We recommend sanding these edges. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis globe is constructed from a very durable acrylic that does not yellow over time. The globe can be a bit brittle and might crack if dropped.
